Stories and all

Hello February 12 2008. So here are a few snaps on what’s been happening round my way. The elbow is all fixed up now, which is amazing news. However, my arm in general is super weak, and riding has been making it ache real badly at times. Need to get it stretched out more I guess and perhaps do some light gym stuff to help the muscle regenerate. If anyone has any good exercises for arm rehab let me know. Here’s a little peak at one of Banbury’s lesser known heroes.

Saturday night got pretty wild. It was my friend Jo’s birthday, so a bunch of us went out to celebrate that. She had booked out a lounge in a little bar/club place that’s pretty rad. We went to a couple of rad bars before hand, including the shittiest pub in town. We ended up kicked out of there for someone smoking a cigar that the 50 year old Coolio-esque bouncer thought was weed, jokes.

Ended up smashing up the lounge place in the party bar, bloody fun, me and Rich fell across a table and smashed glass everywhere, I ended up getting kicked out, proper little twerp the bouncer was. Sweet night out whatever, I just chilled outside making annoying conversation with the bouncers trying my hardest to wind them up as much as I could. Sick times with some even sicker people, just a shame that my phone camera doesn’t work so I haven’t got any party pictures.

Someone tell me, since when did being a BMXer become all about riding bikes? All this website is at the moment is pictures of people riding skate parks with an occasional pose or two. I need to get my phone camera sorted for a bit more variety, like a drunk horse or something else dead exciting.
Shameless is on tonight, probably the greatest programme to ever grace the good old idiot box. It is just 100% pure entertainment from start to finish. If you don’t watch it, then start immediately.
Just saw a good video from the Ride quarter pipe challenge, some pretty sweet clips on there, check that one out. Summer of Fit is a complete video of new school walking pace street with barely a clip of Inman and BF, what a load of rubbish. Lastly, I set up a new bike this week, with some new bits and bobs fresh from Empire. Got an S&M Black Bike which I’m full on stoked with, plus a few other bits, by far the raddest bike I’ve ever owned. The weather’s good right now, enjoy it. x

Barry loves it

Barry skatepark is my favorite skatepark at the moment. A good run-up to a decent jump box, then a good quarter and a good spine. What more could a boy want? Oh and also a beautiful beach just over the wall! Went there again on Sunday for the usual hungover session.

I have an absolute treat of a new phone Nokia n82 for free because I was too slack to get a new one for ages and they loved it. It can do just about everything ever including taking pretty good videos. Here’s a quick train from Sunday.

Me first then Jim then random people… Maybe videos will become a regular occurrence on here? Who knows.

Jim tailwhip

Somehow that skinny runt Jim managed to learn tailwhips and pulled quite a few during the afternoon! Was sooo good to see. Jim just needs to three the box all the way and he will be on the way to being a man! Haha.

Mint sunset. Sorry people if you are probably bored of this damn beach, but it is amazing.

Dinas Powys skatepark

Been on a proper skatepark mission lately. Went to the fun little park called Dinas Powys which is just outside Cardiff. It’s floodlit too so pretty much ideal for evening sessions when the dew doesn’t make the ramps wet.

Boyzzz on Barry beach

Went to Barry again on Wednesday, didn’t get any riding photos just some ‘roadfools’ shots on the beach.

Creation skate park

So as I mentioned the other day, Sunday afternoon I headed up to the former Epic, now Creation skate park in Birmingham. After a mundane morning, I got a call from Gregg asking if I wanted a lift up with Ray, and couldn’t turn down the offer. Headed up there in Ray’s beast Audi, that car is amazing, proper road trip mobile. It’s even got a DVD player up front to watch some Mutiny road trip video on route. Ray got rage on with everyone and anyone that decided they were going to get in our path, on a mission!

Got up there to be greeted by lots of rad Banbury kids, including Josh and his buddy shooting some box stunts, and John, Butler and Craig getting rad. The skate park had changed a bunch since I last went, and had some fun looking new obstacles, want to ride that set up once the arm is fixed up and whilst the weather still sucks.

Harry Main was up there meeting Craig for a session. That kid is actually obscene, nuts twist tables, twist old schools, spine 7’s, and all sorts of crazy park radness. He was having the box fully, as well as these wild transfers from mini ramp to vert wall. Yes son.

I hadn’t seen Craig ride in ages, he did some pretty sweet stunts, riding better than I’ve seen him in a while. Few stiff ricks over the box though! His invert airs have always been crazy good, and he’s also learnt nice table airs too by the looks of a photo further down this page. Splendid.

Cheap Ebay wireless flash kits only work on slow shutter speeds it appears. It was always a little temperamental, but lately using it at about 1/160 and slower it seems to work pretty damn well. Makes shooting shots from afar a lot easier, just need to get a cheap second flash from somewhere.
John was shredding as always, airing the mini ramp obscenely high and doing plenty of tremendous manoeuvres. He also did some of the smoothest flairs I’ve seen him do, but unfortunately I didn’t manage a half decent shot of those.

Style for a country mile

Style for a country mile

Today I headed over to Abingdon with my friend Tom to see young sonny jim me lad Aidan. We decided to take a mission to see Uffington white horse. Pretty rad to go for a wander over the fields, the wind was crazy up there. The horse is carved into possibly the sickest looking sledging hill ever, want to head up there next time it snows. Tom just had laser eye surgery and it was drying his eyes out a little, not ideal by any means, so we went for a country drive all over the shire. Also checked out the trails, new stuff was looking dialled, look forward to having two working arms again and getting building rad stuff again. Sweet day of fun with two of the most amazing dudes I know.

Had some pancakes today, click here to read why we do what we do. X rays Friday, hopes are high for a 100% recovered and healed arm. Bring on spring afternoons digging in the woods, and summer evenings riding trails and drinking around the fire. This summer is going to be a real good one. Peace and love.

Aberdare bowl

Went to another new skatepark the other day called Aberdare in Wales somewhere. Quite a strange setup but really fun! There is a really sweet bowl with a vert extension. Super scary but really good to ride. Then there was a box and your usual other ledges etc. Went with Frank (the tank), Ian, Jim, my skater house mate Simon and a few other skaters.

Will deffinatley go back there, and take a broom this time! Go to the park site to see more of it if you fancy Aberdare skatepark.
