Adventure times

Welcome to an update from an adventure that occured a number of weeks ago. There seems to be a 3 or 4 week lag between an event occuring and photo’s being taken, until I actually update with it. Anyway, after he had stayed at our’s for a week or two, myself and my buddy Will took a trip for a few days. Heading to to the land of Bristol, aiming to find him a new house, drink some drinks, ride some bikes and have some fun. All of these things happened pretty much.

So after a wierd tweak out from my back we got on our way. On our way into town we headed straight down to St Georges, a real cool old school park with loads of oddly shaped concrete piles, including a big double. They also have a strangely constructed new bowl with a good transfer in it, real good to blast a table over. Afterwards, we headed down to Dean Lane for a while, had a blast on one of the best hips ever and chilled with some of Will’s skater buddies. Good relaxed sessions, check.

There he is! Yeh, we hit up the Clifton suspension bridge too, good views and a nuts piece of architecture, felt a little too gay for a while though, just the two of us…

The city...

The city…

The first night we met up with Will’s friend Craig at a bar on the river called the Apple, he was working and sorted us out real good with some free cider. Cruising down there was fun too, hacking through traffic in a bustly city at night, real rad. I have no idea what cider it was exactly, but it was gnarly as shit. Four pints and I was gone! We ended up in some shady bar watching a rock band, getting nuts alone on the dancefloor, shut it right down. Also met some guy that Craig knew, who thought ‘Dogtown and the Z-Boys’ was a German film - ‘ze boys!’. Pretty amazing. He also did butlers in the buff and knew the circumference of his bicep, and got mad because he couldn’t win an arm wrestle.

The next day, feeling haggard as hell, we went and searched for a house for Will. Went to see some art girls house that wasn’t all that. Also hit up the uni campus looking for adverts, nice to see new places and ride down some country lanes. UWE campus is pretty nice - up in the fields with nice walks to go on. Also rode the Deaner again and checked out Crucial BMX, which didn’t have a dime on BMX Plus of Bournemouth - shameless! Craig shredded Dean Lane, and talked of a potential rock ‘n’ roll night he wants to put on. That night we stayed at some guys house, and went to an art show. So strange, we were met by a bald 40 year old dude lubing up and stripping, real pretentious atmosphere with arty kids who all think their next painting will be the masterpiece of the century. Made Will and I feel pretty violated and wrong. Actually pulled off a chilled night for once, real stoked.

Bang!

The next morning we got up real early to ride Hengrove with Craig. He has this place so wired, every line possible I guess. Hengrove is super fun when empty, riding at 10AM was an odd sensation, but dead cool. These were the only riding photo’s I took, and with no flashes I was stoked on the results.

After a chill there and yet more awesome sandwiches we’d made, I hit the road. Pretty much one of the most fun little adventures I’ve had this summer, Bristol is an awesome city, and it’s always good times with William. On the way back I met up with Stu Loxley, who is a pleasure also, we chatted and rode a mini mini mini ramp. Rad times. Oh yes, and Will found a house that he was happy with a few days later too, happy happy joy joy. Until next time lads and lasses, the woods are dry.
