Bank Holiday recollections

I guess the theme of this renewal of the website is stuff that happened this bank holiday weekend. So Friday afternoon I went Topman shopping with my mother and got some sweet jeans on her discount card, splendid. Leamington was the location, and hot chicks everywhere were the highlight. Afterwards I got jiggy with Richy P on our little bikes, we rode the park and got savage, followed a real good little street session. We both did a couple of lines which we were fully pumped on.
Afterwards we headed to Rich’s house and his mum cooked us homemade burgers, so dialled, I love his parents! Watched some Soprano’s which were grand, chiller night.

Next day – Saturday. Involved more of the same down the skate park, only with Stratford and Project 5 crews down the local. One dude in particular shredded, and I took no photos, dick’ed. The guys from Stratford who came over are always a pleasure, that was grand. Plus Galt has a section in the bonus on summer of madness for proof, go watch.
Saturday night we hit up out friend Laura’s birthday party, bloody splendid it were. Got told off by PC Plod for street drinking on the way, got loose on the dance floor everywhere we went, stole a bike with two flat tyres from some place. I was spotted running out of the club across the high street in front of a car screaming at 3AM, funk knows. It was a lovely night.

Sunday I awoke feeling shitty, and looking at a bleak morning. Obviously, Grove jam was going on, so myself and my good friend Tobin were heading there, because you don’t wanna miss out on cupcake stalls. All the way there the weather looked dodgy, and by the time we had almost reached Grove the heavens had opened. Little Timmy tried to clear up the park with a single towel, commitment indeed. After a little Wantage excursion, we detoured to 157 instead, where we chilled with Aidan and Madonna, and did the usual computer based BMX nibbling and heckling. Semi dry Radley then kindly treated me to a hole in my inner tube, so we headed down the new park. Now I’m not a massive fan, but Danny boy shredded it, he loves grinding you see. I actually used my camera, hoorah for no flashes.

Recovery Monday some may call it, and that it was. I think someone put something in my drink Saturday, seriously. Danny boy Tobin, Tombo and I crammed ourselves into Tobe’s 106 and headed to the rescheduled Grove jam. Crammed was an understatement at it’s best, remember to shotgun the front in future. Popped into the woods where Moses was looked ten times better for some beefing up, and had a chill with Aidan, Jen and Sweep. Grove was a pleasure as always, saw Local, it had been a while, and all the usual suspects. Good times riding a rad park, that mini is amazing. Poll in particular did heaps of rad stunts, a seemingly rare site seeing him ride that much – yes the bike show master!
Best weekend in a while, just trying to remember what’s making me feel so bad still now, not the best. Hopefully tomorrow I shall be able to get to the woods and help Pipe make benches and sort out boggy footpaths. All depends on old Herby, my magical new car with a mind of it’s own! Until next time. x

I’m the moon, I don’t pay fuckin dental fees

So here is a bunch of random photo’s that I’ve been taking lately. Rob O Rob has gone and disguised his magic carpet as a skateboard, and now spends his time hovering over waist high rails to make people trip out.

Tommy G and I headed over to Cheltenham park some time in the last fortnight too. Having that place to yourself is amazing; you can just go every way over every obstacle, if only it was made of wood. Tom rode the best in ages, killed everything, really good to see the bald bastard getting stoked on riding again.

Banbury park is without a doubt one of the best little parks in a while, with the highest rate of ghetto rats on shit bikes sat in your way ever. I love making John do stunts for the camera, although he usually crashes out as soon as I call something out. Some sort of bad karma going on there. John’s aunty told my friend who met her that he was in the top thirty riders in the country. What a little liar! He sucks! Here are three photo’s of him riding his favourite skate park, the little ripper.

Two reprobates from Croydon way came to stay the other weekend with young Jibbleton. We planned on riding Wisley, but due to wetness ended up at the poor substitute of Abingdon. It’s pretty irrelevant where you are when you get to ride with some really rad kids though, which is exactly what happened.
It’s just 8 days until I depart with young Eddie Chaffey to the land of upside down people and animals with mini me’s in their front pockets. Excited doesn’t come close. I even got a box from a GT to put my bike in on the plane, mega.

Went to Chertsey yesterday with young Aidzilla, which was more absolutely fabulous than Jennifer Saunders. Those jumps are too much fun, and the locals ain’t too shabby neither mush. Got to see young Crazy Peter which was lovely, been a while, hopefully he got some cool photo evidence of our fun too.

Everyone should go listen to Regina Spektor. She is pretty much the greatest female vocalist since Scary Spice. I bought one of her LP’s off Ebay the other day, follow me into musical bliss my children. Go buy Begin to Hope.

In other news, Aidan made Dew Tour with his signature one foot tyre grab.

Went and met up with young Aidan at his new park in Abingdon last weekend. Him and Yak never ride good when I’m around. On this day, Aidan snapped his chain and crashed five minutes into the session. There’s some sort of bad karma going on, and I have no idea why. One of his friends took this photo of me that day, cheers buddy.

Gunny had never ridden Radley before, and got so excited it was unbelievable. He loved the place, and with good reason too. My weekdays have been some what dull and repetitive, with work being pretty good, and monotonous sessions down the park in the evening. I want to go cliff jumping at the quarry very soon.

Five of my friends are now three days into a two week tour around Spain and France. Lucky bastards. I am counting the days until I head off to Australia and New Zealand for four months. Twelve weeks Wednesday by my calculations. Yeeeeeeha.

Taking photo’s of skating is sometimes more satisfying than shooting bmx pictures. One evening last week was an example of one of these occasions.

I was watching the news earlier, and a guy from ‘Plane Stupid’, a group working against climate change caused by airplanes. He was clearly an educated chap, and was nothing but ridiculed and patronised by the news reader. Whatever your view on the subject being discussed, I hate the manipulation involved in the news, moulding and shaping the majorities opinions, here trying to make this group of people look foolish. I have become a proper sceptic of anything the news or politicians say, and for good reason I think. More rants on that matter some time soon maybe.

I don’t know what this trick is called. I worked with my mate Tony who also skates last week for a few days. I’d never really chatted to him much before, but it was amazing how many similar opinions and thoughts he held with me. It’s always good to chat to like minded people.

These are a few of my favourite photographs I’ve shot in a while. Working with different people recently makes me hate commercialism and mass marketing even more. Some people live their lives around every aspect of popular culture, especially with music. Listening to completely terrible stuff on the radio that people think is brilliant, I don’t understand what people see in it. I guess it’s just easy to take the decisions made for you by the well funded media about what’s good and what’s not, and then to be able to relate to the masses.
Bournemouth this weekend was amazing, but I’m real tired now and feel pretty rough. Fell asleep at the wheel today on the van and got a lucky escape in a seriously scary circumstance, early night tonight. Bournemouth update real soon. Goodnight.
