Weekend warriors

I never know how to start updates, so this one opens with me relaying this useless piece of information. So what do you have to offer I hear you cry? The answer being, some of the finest bloody media type material this side of the BBC.

So upon finishing work Friday I headed over to the land of Cothill and 157. Had a really good session at the trails Friday; Pipe, Poll, Steve and Liam all came over and we had an amazing session. Everyone chilling, Steve clocking some footage, Liam going stupidly high, and Pipe and Aidan doing some really grand twist trains. These photo’s show the latest jump through the main line which has been properly jumped so far, super steep, boomer jump, once hard it will send you to the clouds and back. You can just see segments of further jumps in the edge of the above photo.

Friday night we chilled out after not leaving the woods until 9 o’clock, sorted out some house bureaucracy, eat some chips and watched Jonathon Ross. Russell Brand was as entertaining as ever, especially with his recollections of the letter he sent Serena Williams trying to seduce her. He’s a genius.
Saturday was a kind of riding come down. After such a good session the previous day, feeling a little stiff and weary, it was hard to motivate ourselves to ride. We persevered and got some stuff done which Aidan should document, and also fixed up a lot of needy landings that were worse for wear. Saturday night we headed to the Annex, all a little narcissistic watching ourselves perform on video, followed by Odyssey Electronical. That video is seriously amazing, nicely filmed without too much pretentious artiness, loads of rippers and a million amazing clips; Gary Young kills it. Then we hit up Wantage town, nothing spectacular, just good to go to a couple of places and talk BMX.

If you ever wondered what Joshbelcher.co.uk looks like, here’s two angles on old schools that I snapped for him today. He has these dialled, look super good and arms stretch almost out of socket. Shredder. These photo’s are for Poll, who made clear he can’t get enough of the old Banbury ramps and never wants to see the spine ramp. Aidan and I also wrote a crimp this weekend, which once perfected should be unleashed on the world in one form or another. Keep your peepers and listeners peeled.

Relaxed down the local today, nothing breathtaking happened, just heckling, shouting and laughing. Two sweet girls who are friends with my buddy John also bought me a Mcflurry, which was bloody nice of them so I gave em a kiss, wonderful. Lovely girls. Josh once again came through with the goods for me today, he steals good souls. Thanks buddy. So once again, much like the start, this update will end in a strange and vague fashion. Until next time, bambushka.

April Awesomeness

Welcome to another update from the month of April, which NW9 desribed as a ‘prick tease’ i.e. the weather keeps changing and not allowing sessions to get pumping full bore. The other week Josh Belcher took some photo’s of me that I got stoked on, check em out peoples.

Seriously stoked on those, cheers Joshy B. Haven’t really ridden too much lately, working hard, unpredictable weather and down right laziness all contributing towards this poor show. The trails have been getting dialled in, been there as much as possible, more jumps being ridden, and apparently Pipe and Aidan have been doing three figured rotations over some of them too. Word.

Saw this bike check online today, actually one of the coolest bikes I’ve seen, bar the ridiculous bent flatland forks that Odyssey seem to think are a good thing.

So on Tuesday Richy P, Callum and I decided to take a trip down to Bournemouth and the sunny seaside. Everytime I go to that place I get all sentimental and reminicse on the good old days. We had a rad session at Kings Park and ended up bumping into none other than Jingles and Davros of Bar End fame. Always a pleasure. We also headed dn to Ashley’s shop, where I splashed the cash and bought something new for my bike, sweet times. That shop is too good.

Go check out this little interview with Louis for some answers about various aspects of Aversion, BMX and general lifestyles. Tuesday evening we headed down to the mighty Slades Farm, met up with all the usual awesome suspects, never fail to enjoy yourself down there. Ashley was riding amazing as usual, guess being a local there since you were a kid shows. Also saw Azza, Jesus, Ollie Gun, Moley, Pickles, a bunch of the best dudes going. Really fun to hang out, heckle, chat shit, shout about, BMX at it’s best. Rich and Callum had an awesome time and really enjoyed the day by all accounts, which made me even more stoked on life. Shame we didn’t hit up the beach but there’s plenty more trips to come this summer.

So life is, in general, splendid. It’s just one thing after another at the moment to sort out and cause unwanted hassle. Tomorow I shall hopefully be the proud owner of a new car with any luck, so more on that as soon as it happens. Trails this weekend at some point, bikes, rad people, good times ahead. Peace and love world. x

This is an update

Due to popular demand from at the very least, one of Blewbmx’s fans, I am doing an update on a grotty Thursday evening. So what’s been happening then? Well for one thing we (Yak, Aidan, Jen and I) pretty much sorted out a house to live in near the Cowley road, only to be let down as we filled in the forms to retain the property. Couldn’t have been any more last minute, NEVER trust anyone at Charles Lawson’s estate agents, they’re an authentic bunch of con artists.

This photo shows Ray Smith doing a nose pick over, only had his front brake three weeks and can already do a zillion front brake stunts. He made it clear that the world should know this mean feat. However, he has been practicing front braking for years in his car for years so that’s an advantage. He is also the toughest guy in his suburb for his age, size and hair style, well tough. On a serious note Ray does completely shred the techno moves. Rumour has it that Gregg and him are going proper drag racing their cars sometime soon, hopefully get to watch that happen, should be awesome.

Here is another stunt that I made John learn. No one else has ever had any influence over this kid’s riding. I am his sole trainer, motivator and influence. Ray ent taught him nuffink bruvva, especially not hand rails. I also claim a 75 % steak in his X Games winnings in years to come and plan to retire on those spoils. Fact.

Tonight I should be out doing a night out sleeping in a lorry and delivering more bathroom equipment in the morning. I am however back at home, still getting paid £20 night out money. Amazing. In other amazing news, a lady from Banbury was on Ant & Dec Saturday night, with a prank set-up job involving Boyzone, some fake beards, a taxi and the lady’s naked body. I didn’t see it but by all accounts it was splendid.

This weekend I should be taking a trip down to see my brothers in Jamaica. Jamaica, Bournemouth, I get confused, somewhere like that I think. Hopefully the weather will dial itself right in and all will be well on the yellow brick road. Ollie puts on a tremendous spread, no doubt I will be greeted by a seafood platter, some fine wine and evening at the theatre. He’s terribly cultured, especially considering he originally arrived in the country as a building site labourer from Poland. Leaps and bounds I tell thee.

Some bloody rad old timer

Some bloody rad old timer

This old dude was world freestyle champion in the 80’s. Word on the apple vine is this means Calvin Harris still has love for him, although he was born in the mid to late 50’s. I’m going to watch Hollyoaks on E4, a whole damn day earlier than Channel 4. If that isn’t high tech then I couldn’t possibly tell you what is. Peace and love. x

Just a quick update with a few photo’s that I’ve taken lately and thought were grand. Enjoy.

Random ramblings

I thought this evening I’d update with a few random photo’s and ramblings about different things which may or may not be of any interest to anyone. Broken limbs are strange in their recovery. I am now two weeks out of the last X ray, and everything seems ok apart from the X up position of my arms, still can’t make them happen. Aidan is a week behind me, and his ankle seems in the over exerted state my arm was this time last week. Here’s a photo of something I have been trying to get good.

Whilst I waited for my arm to heal and I was jobless without means of getting anywhere fun, I went on a few walks in the countryside, like a right country gent. I used to hate the slow pace of walking, but I now appreciate that it let’s you take more time to take in the surroundings and have a right good think with your brainbox. Here are a few snap’s I took on my adventures.

I also checked out my old woods, where I used to dig every Sunday afternoon with my good buddy Gregg. Never the most ideal spot or the best jumps, but they were fun to have just across the fields from your house. We had a few nice afternoons down there, nice and peaceful.

This week the Brits were shown on the telly box, and I watched it so as to catch a bit of Winehouse. She did a medley with Mark Ronson, along with a couple of other singers, and then did a song off her newer album, can’t remember which one, Love is Losing Game possibly. Bloody rad whatever it was, go watch the Ronson set on youtube for a bit of musical entertainment. There she is, very coherent for the first time in a while. Excellent.

Last night I went to a private session at Epic run by an old school website, Radbmx. All in there were nine people who headed up with our crew, and an awesome session was had by all. We met some super sweet dudes there too. Everyone I was with did something to get stoked on I think, including Gregg’s big drop gap, Chris’s sub box fufanu, Ray’s front brake nose picks and me convincing John to send a pretty gnarly first hand rail. Yes John. I stole the show however with a jump off the bike to bum slide down a ledge to land on another bike at the bottom. Progression. Didn’t get any pictures but my words should be assurance enough it was splendid.

Will Hermannator kicking one out in Texas

So thanks to Aidan I found this photo of Will doing a mega kick out in Austin. Looks like he’s having an amazing time out there again. For another picture of Will living the high life, and other wonderful images, go check out the lightwoods. Pipe just did an update.
Today Aidan and I did some mud piling, slapping and smoothing. The woods are looking really good at the moment, should be a treat come riding time. Now that the arms fixed up and Aidan’s ankles well on the mend, lots of stuff should get done, which I am really excited about. I am however yet to see Yak since I got back from Australia. He seems to be somewhat elusive these days, send me a message if you read this boy! This afternoon, Aidan told me about these weird dreams he’s been having about waking up in strange places alongside Stephen Fry. Just dreams of waking up in chapels, busy parks, building sites, and even in scenes from the TV show the Office. Who knows what goes on in that kid’s noggin? That’s anyone’s guess. There he is to finish off this update, farewell. x
