Sunday Slade’s Sessions

BMX picture

Sundays are always a little lazy, and after an hour or two of digging we hit up the farm. I decided to get the camera out as it had been a while and get some snaps. It was pretty good to have a session at Slade’s with our crew of diggers from the woods. Jesus has the place wired.

Paul Jefferies doesn’t have sponsor deals for no reason. I can’t even get my wheels out the top of the bowl. Here he blasts a casual 4 foot air, no worries. I wasn’t feeling riding a lot, so decided to take pictures and shout about the whole time we were there, at everyone in the park.

BMX picture

This is one of my favourite picture’s I’ve ever taken, real stoked with how it came out. Proper BMX, none of this backwards, three Mph, slide on a ledge rubbish. Awesome table out of the side of the bowl.

BMX picture

Jesus sabotaged a picture of Gilly, and it ended up coming out pretty awesome.

BMX picture

Here’s a better photo of Gilly doing an awesome toboggan. He can in fact do every trick ever invented in the history of history.

BMX picture

Melon loves riding more than most people. He often gets his Aaron Ross on and sends his bike flying. Aaron has a section on the new Empire vid, Chill Bro, which is definitely amazing. Tony Cardona does some real good fast stuff, KP is originality in a small coffee scented package, and Chase Hawk rides a bike like it was intended to be ridden. Go watch that video when you get the chance. N.B. skip Joel Moody.

Gilly loves blasting a gap or two, and this is one of the best the farm has to offer. I wanted to session it too, but have suddenly got a real bad back. It developed loads yesterday and is a real pain, even hurts walking down the road sometimes right now. I’ve been trying to use some old stretches Yak posted back in the day on Theshovelload.com. Anyone with any other good ideas for back rehabilitation, comment this post with them.

BMX picture

Tricking this line is real hard, I’ve never even seen anyone do anything over it before. Here it’s opened up with an X-up.

BMX picture

Tabletop. That’s all you need to know.

BMX picture

The farm is the best place to learn opposite tweaks and nibbles ever. Jesus does an opposite layover which looks nice on camera.

BMX picture

I wish this picture had been taken a tiny bit closer, but still came out real nice. Not bad for a stiff old man…

BMX picture

A small crew of people chilling and smiling. The farm is always a good time whether you ride a lot or not much at all. That’s it for a second update in as many days. Take it easy, make the most of every minute of sunshine.

Camera phones are sweet, mush

BMX picture

So it’s been a while since the last update, and I have been slacking on the riding photo front. Having a phone on your camera can come in pretty handy for capturing random moments of the day. Here’s one photo I did take, before I got tonsillitis, at a waste of the tax payers money near Salisbury.

BMX picture

Pipe, Couch and Steve came down for Castles birthday shindig last weekend, which ended up being pretty radical. Couch got arrested on the way down for holding a toy gun out of the car window near Lyndhurst. More on lightinthewoods. Castle was full on leathered and ended up driving back to Southampton at the end of the night. Silly boy, but made it home fine. Gilly used to run Zima bikes back in’t day, and the frame and fork combo weighed 15 POUNDS. No jokes. Cheesy old poster from his shop.

BMX picture

Here’s a snap of an old mountain bike video that we used to heckle my friend Ray from Banbury with, who does a lot of slow tech manoeuvres. Hans Rey is a trials rider who does similar stuff on a bigger bike.

Graffiti artists at a jam at Kings Park were clearly disorientated, as they were quite obviously in Bournemouth.

The weather has been treating us a little this week after a long while of wet and wild spells. This meant some people from home visiting and us hitting up the beach. Tops off and everything, it were reet mint. Hopefully someone else read this after we left and hit up the site.

BMX picture

Burying your legs is always fun on the beach. I didn’t have any swimming shorts so didn’t hit up the ocean, but hopefully I will do this week some time. Cruising along the promenade is pretty fun, especially when there’s some hotties in bikinis getting dialled on the beach.

BMX picture

Alex and I often get bored in the daytime sitting around in the house. When either of us doesn’t go out and do something productive or fun, we make our own fun in the house. Becky’s clothes look hotter on us.

BMX picture

After we cross dressed, we decided to do some interior design in Becky’s room. Everything we could pick up on to the bed was the theme.
Lots of stuff going on this month, including Empire of Dirt in a couple of weeks and Brighouse fun times in a little bit more. Sweet times ahead no doubt. Hopefully I’m going to do something nuts this weekend coming whilst other people go to the overpriced Uni summer ball. Aidan and Yak, if you’re reading, I might make a trip up if you are going to be about, or you are welcome at the sunny seaside. Party at 157 yerrrrrr. Riding update coming soon.

No voice, and random jump snappies

Easy now. I have had tonsillitis since the weekend, and pretty much haven?t been able to say a word since Sunday. Not being able to shout about, or scream out of cars, or have a conversation is mind numbingly boring. I got some sweet Penicillin which hopefully is doing the job and fixing me up all fine and dandy. Thought I?d update with some random pictures, some recent and some older ones too.

BMX picture

Random Banksy piece, one of many all over Bristol. This ones pretty simple but rad as you like. Banksy won some greatest Britons award for arts on TV the other night.

BMX picture

Louis spinning one out at Spooks nearly a year ago. This was the first time I met the old chap, and what a thoroughly nice one he is. Its his birthday some time soon, so send him all sorts of magical gifts. This was the only time I?ve ever been to Spooks, and was thoroughly stoked on it, having not ever seen photos beforehand and not knowing what to expect.

BMX picture

I stopped by 157 one day on the way home from uni, rode Radley, and Aidan and I fixed this landing. Aidan loves photos being taken of himself, so this was a perfect opportunity. This really sums his personality up.

BMX picture

The trail monkey is a staple feature of Cothill. Here he is in party mode i.e. hanging rather than perched on the tree. He once told me he had travelled the seven seas as a young chimp, and there was nowhere he?d rather be than relaxing down Cothill.

BMX picture

We have a roll in?.worth the effort, but an absolute mass of dirt. Not quite as much as some Chertsey landings, but still one hell of a lot of work.

BMX picture

Sam Chapman of Northern trails fame wafting his back end out. New Ride has a trails article including an interview with Dan. Top quotes include?
?We built some skimmers?
?We?re usually too busy talking about world politics or conspiracy theories, or horses? and
?If that means there?s petite girls walking round in just panties, that?s OK by me!?.
Go read all those interviews if you are yet too already, pretty entertaining stuff at times. Also, watch this video?

9/11 Mysteries
One of the best features I?ve ever seen, there?s plenty more similar to this one floating around on Youtube/Google video/etc. Might do another update tomorrow if I still can?t speak, it?s the most boring uncomfortable situation ever. Make the most of your voice boxes people.

Gilly blasting, my phone has a camera too

Ollie wafting one with his bum out

So a bit of rain meant damp trails, no good for Gilly?s day off session. Yesterday we headed down Kings Park for the first time in a while, and he shredded. Here?s a snap of a twist table over the hip, which looks alright?

The next one shows how nuts they actually were. Proper boosting high and going real far across the landing treats to watch and snap. It rained today lots, which means good conditions for digging bicycle jumps. Stoked. Stuff definitely needs fixing up and looking sharp. We are actually in the process of making some sort of flyout Slades bowl trick jump thing which should be radical.

This snap makes it look much better. BLASTAGE! Jesus is hopefully going to be getting my bicycle sprayed up all pro style, pretty cheap with any luck. For once my bike won?t look like a bag of nails. Gilly also did twist X ups, not quite as high on the altitude scale, but as high as the tables on the sickness scale.

Think I?m going to finish uni at the end of the uni year. My course is unbelievably rubbish, and I?ve hopefully got the opportunity to go to Australia and New Zealand for a few months over winter which I want to take. With any luck things will turn out for the best, I?m pretty positive about the whole ordeal. Definitely want to move back down these parts next year, get a house with Ollie, work at the zoo or something fun, and make the woods even wilder. Here?s some random snaps that my phone has captured over the past few weeks or so.

Tombo?s crazy double jointed fingers.

Banksy piece on a random building wall in Bristol. Such a sick artist.

Ibbo with his du rag/bin bag, getting gangster vip. He got an operation on his wrist today, bone graft and allsorts, few months off bike and other strenuous activities, hope all is well as soon as possible.

Cufflinks, pure style.

Tattooed man in the newspaper, running out of body space I guess.

Aidan getting stoked on free food at the Aversion trip party in Grove. I?m not really into anything involving phones, but ones with camera?s are a pretty good idea. Every update I do at the moment seems to include loads of pictures. I guess a picture paints a thousand words, so from that perspective Ed owes me one hell of a lot of wages. Maybe going Bristol Friday night and possibly riding it Saturday day time which could be real fun. I was pretty impressed by Bristol?s offerings a few weeks back, and I?m pretty sure they haven?t discovered CCTV yet. Me and Ollie are going jean shopping, then paint shopping, then woods playing. Adios.

Gilly Smalls, bitches

So the trails have been riding in pretty good, especially with security meaning not returning to the woods with raped jumps. Everyone?s been getting pretty stoked on the place at the moment, with more being ridden in as the days go by. Roll in still needs to be bigger, which is work in progress.

Gilly has been helping out at the woods a lot over the past few weeks or so, which has been fully appreciated. He can probably do every trick invented, including all of Matt Hoffman?s crazy vert combos. These photos have dodgy lighting, but hopefully with wireless products on order (to arrive soon) this will be eliminated in future. Here he throws a sweet toboggan.

Had a wild night out Saturday for certain. Drank loads of cider and absinthe at a party on a balcony before we went to town, and did some pretty good destruction on the way. I was real haggard before we left the house. Went to break summit, missed and landed in a massive bush lined with compost. Dialled. Consortium had some band playing, ?7 to see them, so I opted for walking about busy town shouting at people and talking shit. Talked to some pretty sick people, all of whom probably didn?t know what I was saying. I doubt I did myself.

Rode some Winch madness on Saturday which is always a treat. Nicest bunch of guys about. Netley shot some photos of me doing aerial manoeuvres, hopefully some of which will develop good. I?d like to see how they come out. Every time I go to other trails I get too excited about riding and don?t shoot any photos. I suck. Rory seemed pretty excited about the photo of Will Herman jumping Chertsey stuff, so get stoked Ed.
Aidan rang earlier and got excited about getting Gillys signature, and was actually buying new bike parts. I couldn?t believe my ears. On other Aidan news, he still has a wrecked foot yet is happy to ride on it. In the words of Mr T, crazy fool. Or summit.

Angle 1 /\ /\ /\ /\
Angle 2 \/ \/ \/ \/

Two angles on the same trick on the same jump. Gilly does the best proper table tops, i.e. with a level bike and 90 turned bars. This is a pretty mellow racer hip too, so is a pretty mean feat. Uni work sucks, I think I might leave and go travel the world for a bit. Then start my own gardening business, or work with wild animals, or something else reet fun. Brighouse a week on Friday for the weekend, get ready you Northern nonce?s, we?re going to destroy your jumps with crazy 1 hand bow legs. Only a month until I finish uni for summer, so after the 23 May as many people as possible are welcome to come stay, ride, drink, party and generally get radical. Feel free to invite yourself, if you’re rad that is. Bring on summer loving.
