New Bristol skatepark layout

Went to Motion in Bristol the other week, the park had a make over. It’s pretty nice, but was too busy to ride really. Going to Corby today, so expect an update from that soon.

Adventure times

Welcome to an update from an adventure that occured a number of weeks ago. There seems to be a 3 or 4 week lag between an event occuring and photo’s being taken, until I actually update with it. Anyway, after he had stayed at our’s for a week or two, myself and my buddy Will took a trip for a few days. Heading to to the land of Bristol, aiming to find him a new house, drink some drinks, ride some bikes and have some fun. All of these things happened pretty much.

Sweet overviews...

Sweet overviews…

So after a wierd tweak out from my back we got on our way. On our way into town we headed straight down to St Georges, a real cool old school park with loads of oddly shaped concrete piles, including a big double. They also have a strangely constructed new bowl with a good transfer in it, real good to blast a table over. Afterwards, we headed down to Dean Lane for a while, had a blast on one of the best hips ever and chilled with some of Will’s skater buddies. Good relaxed sessions, check.

There he is! Yeh, we hit up the Clifton suspension bridge too, good views and a nuts piece of architecture, felt a little too gay for a while though, just the two of us…

The city...

The city…

The first night we met up with Will’s friend Craig at a bar on the river called the Apple, he was working and sorted us out real good with some free cider. Cruising down there was fun too, hacking through traffic in a bustly city at night, real rad. I have no idea what cider it was exactly, but it was gnarly as shit. Four pints and I was gone! We ended up in some shady bar watching a rock band, getting nuts alone on the dancefloor, shut it right down. Also met some guy that Craig knew, who thought ‘Dogtown and the Z-Boys’ was a German film - ‘ze boys!’. Pretty amazing. He also did butlers in the buff and knew the circumference of his bicep, and got mad because he couldn’t win an arm wrestle.

Fuck yeh boy

The next day, feeling haggard as hell, we went and searched for a house for Will. Went to see some art girls house that wasn’t all that. Also hit up the uni campus looking for adverts, nice to see new places and ride down some country lanes. UWE campus is pretty nice - up in the fields with nice walks to go on. Also rode the Deaner again and checked out Crucial BMX, which didn’t have a dime on BMX Plus of Bournemouth - shameless! Craig shredded Dean Lane, and talked of a potential rock ‘n’ roll night he wants to put on. That night we stayed at some guys house, and went to an art show. So strange, we were met by a bald 40 year old dude lubing up and stripping, real pretentious atmosphere with arty kids who all think their next painting will be the masterpiece of the century. Made Will and I feel pretty violated and wrong. Actually pulled off a chilled night for once, real stoked.

The next morning we got up real early to ride Hengrove with Craig. He has this place so wired, every line possible I guess. Hengrove is super fun when empty, riding at 10AM was an odd sensation, but dead cool. These were the only riding photo’s I took, and with no flashes I was stoked on the results.

After a chill there and yet more awesome sandwiches we’d made, I hit the road. Pretty much one of the most fun little adventures I’ve had this summer, Bristol is an awesome city, and it’s always good times with William. On the way back I met up with Stu Loxley, who is a pleasure also, we chatted and rode a mini mini mini ramp. Rad times. Oh yes, and Will found a house that he was happy with a few days later too, happy happy joy joy. Until next time lads and lasses, the woods are dry.

Bristol part 2 Aversion trip

Tailwhip transfer by Pipe at Hengrove skatepark in Bristol

Pipe does a tailwhip transfer, pulled clean. Pipe shreds Hengrove. Pipe is sponsered by a newish company called dead end bikes who are gonna make him a 3 top tube signiture frame according to someone. Might also have an ad in the new Ride magazine but I havn’t brought it yet. The thing the garage in Blewbury seems to sell is ‘adult’ magazines for all the stable lads.

Wedge tailwhip by Max. No idea how he did this at Hengrove skatepark in Bristol

Max. No idea how he did this wedge to tailwhip out. Didn’t really expect hence the dodgey photo.

Icepick stall by Undertone Merlin at Hengrove skatepark in Bristol

Undertone Merlin Icepick stall or maybe grind? I can’t remember.

Sunset at end of the day over the park by at Hengrove skatepark in Bristol

Sunset at end of the day over the skatepark. After this we all drove down to Chazs house in Bournemouth which seemed to take forever, but it was a good night out in B-town. The night out was pretty messy, I remember paying nearly £5 for a drink in one of the clubs we went to, wasn’t too keen on that. One more update of pictures from Barend to come

Dean Lane skatepark

So this was half of day three from the Aversion road trip, also see day 1 and day 2. Woke up at aidens sisters house in Bristol and went riding.

I had only ever been to St Georges and Motion park in Bristol before so didn’t know what to expect. The whole park is on a hill, it was good just pedalling at the corner quater pipe thing and seeing how fast you could hit it without dying

Hengrove skatepark

I though we were going to Bournemouth after Dean lane but we went to Hengrove too. Hengrove is always a reet good laugh. The hip destroys your wrists and ankles but I can’t get enough of it! The bowls are fun to nibble on, Merlin had hang fives going on a treat round them.

Hip flip by Gav Shorthall at Hengrove skatepark in Bristol, Bristol

Gav flipped the hip out of nowhere. Was so good, no helmet, no pussy runs. LEGEND! Louis and the guy in the background were filming lots so hopefully that will see the light of day soonish.

Will 180 off a flat bank to flat via a sub box. I think Merlin did this too.

Big transfer from main park to bowl by Max at Hengrove skatepark in Bristol, Bristol

Max Big transfer from main park hip to bowl. Doesn’t really show here, but this is a big gap and transitions on both sides.

Downside whip by Gav Shorthall. at Hengrove skatepark in Bristol, Bristol

Gav downside whip. We were so lucky with the weather on the trip. Don’t think it rained once even though it was April, considering how bad the weather has been lately.

Hip flip bail by Gav Shorthall at Hengrove skatepark in Bristol, Bristol

Gav flip bail, this looks so bad but somehow he got away with it and did it again. Yooo. There are more pictures from the days riding which will be up soon, and pictures from Barend.

ello ello. shallowest apologies for lack of updates. if i were to write anything as useless as what you are about to read then it wouldn’t even be worth reading. stuff has slowed down a bit recently. after aidan came back from the aversion trip with tales of shit and stolen cars, it was also accompanied with a bashed out ankle. the next day we attempted to ride the trails in a state of blissful ignorance and thats where his ankle fell to pieces and my bike started on the steady road to death.

so ive been in sallys pussy which is wicked cos she keeps it open all day. i dont know how many people have been into sallys pussy but ive heard she gets about. im such a child.

so yeah, tried to ride yesterday and drove up to bristol with jamie t which was completely uneventful apart from a couple of box tricks and aidan somehow getting away with blasting a hip higher than he should. his ankle still took it for the team. then my forks flew up to heaven. turned out i was riding with a bent steerer tube which explained why the stem rocked back and forth. then went to a 70’s bowl on the way home regardless and we both got punctures. then we realised we both have no money, bought a can of cherry coke and shouted at crap drivers. the end.

so probably not much from us for a while im afraid my prettys. im off to devon tomorrow to get drunk anyway. my new forks are on their way and aidan has to spend ?345 on his bike before its even worth riding. someone link us up please. peace and love.x

ps. tricklist and bcbmx are the best sites on this fine day. if you dont know how to get there then you’re as stupid as aidan is.
